![]() Where Neil’s tail was slim and full of brightly colored scales, Andrew’s was built full of muscle and dark. ![]() The other mer was Neil’s opposite in most ways. Those were less and less frequent now that they’d been living together for the better part of two years.īehind him, still stretched out on the bed of kelp and sand, was Andrew. There were still dark nightmares of nets and being lifted out of the water that had himself and Andrew twisted up together in the safety of their log. He would pluck it from the soft, brown bottom and happily take it back to the log they called home. The sandy ground had a few small stones mixed amongst it and occasionally Neil found one that glimmered brightly. The space they’d taken to calling ‘home’ was a quiet area where the water around them gently moved. ![]() He’d slept the night away tucked inside the overturned half log that was wedged between tall fronds of seaweed and a large rock. ![]() The water was clear as far as Neil could see. ![]()
